Hemming, Repair & Alterations with Renee Brown

This workshop is ideal for beginners, as well as those who already have basic sewing machine skills, or have taken the Machine Basics Workshop. The first 30 min will include a quick review of sewing machine fundamentals, including threading, winding a bobbin, straight stitch, and zigzag, Students will learn essential techniques for hand and machine hemming, clothing alterations, and basic repairs. Alterations can be costly so learning these skills can save money and help you expand your wardrobe; especially useful for thrifters who want to update and customize secondhand finds, or those with fit issues. Make the garments in your wardrobe wearable. You are welcome to bring a working sewing machine or borrow one of ours. This hands-on practical class helps students on the road to confidently alter and personalize their clothing.
Materials: Bring an item from your own closet in need of alterations or repair. Include any notions needed and coordinating thread.
Location: Class will be offered in person, at MAG ArtSpace, 9 Park Street, Milton DE.
Cost: $55 for MAG Members; $65 for nonmembers.
