We now offer our educational opportunities online through Zoom and in our Gallery and new ArtSpace classroom! Beginners are welcome to join our fun!

Doodling is a way to relax while doing something creative. (It's very addictive.) All you need is a fineline marker (micron markers and fine sharpies work fine), a pencil, and some paper. Have something to make circles (canned food, jar lids, a glass, etc.).
Optional supplies include blending stump and colored pencils or gel pens.
Fee is $15 for the full month. You may take one or all, the fee is the same... One monthly fee of just $15.
Sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Assemble a twirly using rainbow colored paper bamboo skewers, and glue. While the glue dries, we will hear the story of, “Bartholomew and the Oobleck”, by Dr. Suess. A short scientific explanation of why the ingredients used to make Oobleck behave as they do will be shared. A take home portion of Oobleck will then be made by each child.

Class: Sewing Machine Basics
Sewing Machine Basics with Renee Thorpe
Tuesday July 21, 5:00 - 8:00 PM
This is a perfect workshop for true beginners or anyone who needs a refresher on the fundamentals of machine sewing. Students will learn how to thread a sewing machine, adjust basic settings, wind a bobbin, sew straight seams and understand essential tools. We will cut and sew a simple envelope style pillow slipcover that you can take home at the end of class. Bring your own working sewing machine or borrow one of ours. All equipment provided. You can bring your own working sewing machine or borrow one of ours. This is a friendly stress-free introduction to sewing.
Materials: 1/3 yard printed 100% cotton fabric, 1 yard coordinating solid 100% cotton fabric and matching all purpose thread. Or purchase a fabric kit for $12 at class.

Pen & Ink Rendering of your Home or Historical Building with Richard Fanelli
Thursdays July 23, July 30 & August 6, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Create a pen and ink line drawing of your home, or any other structure incorporating the proper line weights, shading and perspective. This rendering can be used for the front of printed note cards or fine art on your home’s wall.

Students will create an 12x12 Mixed media painting of a stylized bird on a branch.. We will apply layers of acrylic paint, collage papers and line work. Byob if you’d like to sip while you paint.

Class: Sip & Stitch Insulated Drink Koozie
Sip & Stitch Insulated Drink Koozie with Renee Thorpe
Thursday July 30, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
In this hands-on class, students will learn how to sew an insulated (using Insul-Bright) fabric drink koozie with a fabric handle—perfect for keeping coffee, tea, or cold drinks comfortable to hold while helping maintain temperature. This relaxed two-hour workshop is designed for anyone with basic sewing skills. Ages 13 and up… 11 or 12 year old with adult! Students will follow a simple pattern while practicing machine stitching and learning easy construction techniques. Students can also personalize their koozie using vinyl iron-ons and simple appliqué techniques, making each project unique and gift-worthy. Students will leave with a handmade insulated drink koozie and the skills to create more at home—great for personal use or handmade gifts. Participants may bring their own sewing machine or borrow one at the studio. Additional Koozie kits are available for $3.

Using pre-cut, stained glass, create a framed garden or floral arrangement. The pieces will be imbedded in a textured clay background.

Beginner Drawing with Joe Terrone
Tuesdays August 25 & September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 9:00 - 11:00 AM
Drawing is the basis of much of the visual arts. Many of us artists were thrown into our creative lives without the drawing skills we need to make strong images. Here is a class which will teach you the basics while expanding on what you already know. You will learn how to see, how to get it right through the use of negative and positive space, sighting, measuring, squinting, value judgement, etc.
Materials: Please bring the following:
1-Graphite Pencils-, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B any company
2-plastic eraser –
3-Kneaded Eraser-
4-Blender Stumps- variety sets of 5 sizes, get the ones with points on both sides
5-Any drawing pad will do. Make sure they are at least 11 x 14 in size. The higher the weight of the paper the better the pad will be.
6-Viewfinder ( called a viewcatcher).
7-Ruler
8-A small inexpensive sketch pad, to do thumbnails in
9- soft vine charcoal.

This class will cover basic supplies, finding values, creating value sketches, color studies, color mixing, a close look at composition and so much more. Each class will build upon the last.

Thursday September 10, 5:00 - 7:30 PM
Bead woven pendant made using Right Angle Weave technique with Swarovski pearls and embellished with Czech glass crystals. Suitable for beginners. Students will be working with a very long piece of thread and small beads.

Create a coiled fabric bowl or basket. A large variety of fabrics are available. All skill levels are welcome.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
Refunds: A full refund for in house class/workshop credit will be made for students who officially withdraw 14 days prior to the start of class/workshop. If a student withdraws 7 - 13 days before the start of a class/workshop, credit will be given towards a future class/workshop. The amount of credit shall be limited to the amount already paid or the amount due for the future class/workshop, whichever is less.
No refunds or credit will be given without a 1 week notice of withdrawal prior to the start of a class/workshop, or for partial attendance. The Milton Arts Guild must be notified of class/workshop withdrawal via email, phone, or in person to be entitled to the refund or credit privileges above.
If you need to cancel or change a registration for a class/workshop it MUST be done via email
to MiltonArtsGuild310@gmail.com.
Virtual (Zoom) classes/workshops: There will be no refunds for cancellations for virtual classes. Note: Many classes are recorded and you will receive the link to the recorded session.
Cancellations: If it is necessary for the Milton Arts Guild to cancel a class for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and registered participants will receive a full refund of their course fee.

Terms & Conditions:
The Milton Arts Guild reserves the right to relocate, combine, or re-schedule classes, to substitute an
appropriate class instructor when necessary or to make an exception to this policy for extenuating
circumstances. No student will be denied admission on the basis of race, color, gender or ethnic origin.
However, the Milton Arts Guild reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of
disruptive behavior or for any impediment to the learning process of the group as a whole.
Publicity Policy: By registering yourself or your child for this class, you are consenting to allow the Milton Arts Guild to use you/your child's image for publicity purposes unless you opt out when signing attendance sheet at start of class.
